With only 41 wins in the last 10 seasons, the Cleveland Browns have proved to be one of the least successful sports teams in the current era. Only 2 seasons ago they ended with a whopping zero wins under Hue Jackson.

But under their fiery offensive duo of Baker Mayfield and 2014’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, Odell Beckham Jr, they could get some work done in the AFC North. Not to mention young running back Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt, who will sit out the first 8 weeks due to suspension.

In an interview with Beckham, he stated that, “I plan on being there the next five years and trying to bring as many championships there as possible.” While Beckham’s commitment to the Cleveland organization is clear, that’s not the only factor that plays into a successful team.

Baker Mayfield also believes in the future of the Browns, and his teammate. He stated, ” He’s here to work, and he wants to be surrounded by people who love him and support him and allow him to be himself. He’s here to play in front of fans who actually care, who will actually show up to every game and pack the stadium and love him for who he is.”

Aside from off-hand disses, Mayfield and Beckham have had a “click” in training camp, but Beckham has had a rest from preseason football. It could be until his Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans on September 8th that we see him and Baker Mayfield play.

Until then, how the two stars play on the turf against an aggressive defense is unknown. However, many Cleveland Browns fans are optimistic for this season.

Anybody who follows the NFL has heard of Antonio Brown’s latest foot debacle, but how much can this atrocious off-season set him astray from his path this year?

For starters, frostbite on his foot hasn’t even been the start of his problems. He has glanced rumors of retirement, after losing his second case about his helmet grievance. He reportedly had called upon Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers for also defying helmet regulations.

After being sent evidence that both quarterbacks were abiding by the rules in their training camp footage, he still wasn’t done. He painted the Raiders logo over his former Steelers helmet, and practiced with it. Once called out, he finally settled with the new helmet.

The Oakland Raiders have a few tough choices to make. If they were to lose Brown to retirement over a helmet, it would be detrimental for the sinking organization. Oakland gave up a 3rd round and a 5th round draft pick, which Pittsburgh used to draft wide receiver Diontae Johnson and tight end Zach Gentry. If he was to retire, the Raiders could get back a portion of the 15 million dollars Brown was set to earn this year. Brown could be placed on the non-football injury list, however. This would ensure that the Oakland organization would not owe a dime to the wideout.

With his frostbitten feet and constant fighting with the National Football League, the future for Antonio Brown is an unsure one.

Star 29 year old quarterback, Andrew Luck, shocked the nation last Saturday, when the news was announced that he planned to retire before the start of his 8th season in the National Football League. The Colts were poised for a deep postseason run, with Luck, with 2nd year Colt TE Eric Ebron, star wideout TY Hilton, and up and coming running back Marlon Mack.

Luck was the number 2 pick in 2012, coming out of Stanford. The Colts looked at him as their savior, after the departure of the bruised Peyton Manning to Denver. Luck looked very poised to fill that role, attending 4 Pro Bowls, in his 7 seasons. The problem was that the injury bug wouldn’t leave him be. From 2015 to the present day Luck totaled up a diverse portfolio of injuries such as: sprained shoulder, lacerated kidney, partially torn abdominal muscle, torn cartilage, concussion, shoulder surgery to repair damaged labrum, and finally the calf strain that contributed to his final goodbye.

It’s understandable, that he retired, considering the multitude of injuries he has been plagued with. Luck is a very smart guy, with a degree in architectural design, from Stanford, one of the most prestigious schools in America. He wanted to have a future, where he was fully in control with his body. This came as a major disappointment to Colts fans, who booed Andrew off the field, of their Week 3 Preseason game, where the news leaked. It is understandable that they were disappointed that he didn’t announce this earlier in the off season, but this is the guy that was your franchise QB 5 minutes before the news.

He brought much more success than Indianapolis had in 2011 with a mix of starting quarterbacks, Curtis Painter(who), Dan Orlovski(what), or Kerry Collins(where). He developed the team from a 2-14 tanker, for Luck, to a top tier AFC team, with 4 playoff experiences during his era. Colts fans were certainly excited for this 2019 season, after earning ESPN’s highest offseason grade, an A-. This was after offseason acquisitions of pass rusher Justin Houston, and promising receiver, Devin Funchess. Now they have to turn to 3rd year qb, Jacoby Brissett. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2016, and in the stacked quarterback room of The GOAT: Tom Brady, The Future Jimmy Garoppolo, and now the Colts present in himself. He was traded in 2017 to the Colts, and started for them, with Luck out, in 2017. He was an about average QB, with a 4-11 record and a tough situation.

Now he will have the floor all to himself, in Indianapolis. Can he fill Luck’s massive shoes? Time will certainly tell.
